Spartan Construction & Design, Inc., was incorporated in 1991. John has over 35 years of consulting and
construction experience. He is dedicated in every way in helping you to achieve the dream of owning a home,
just like he did 35 years ago.
John started his career in home remodeling in 1980 after graduating with Honors in Power Machine
Technology with an AAS degree from Moraine Valley Community College in Palos Hills, IL. In the past, John
has worked for two major construction companies in the area as a Customer Service Representative and
Project Manager, which is where he learned all of the basic fundamentals of homebuilding. He also has
personal experience as a carpenter both trim and framing, tile setter and basically is now a jack of all trades. In
1984, he was employed by a local lender to work as their Project Analyst, which is where he learned the
process of submitting and obtaining VA, FHA, FNMA and FHLMC project approvals nationwide. This process
allowed the lender to close thousands of loans under the government financed programs. While employed by a
national lender and working part time as a remodeling contractor, John was certified by HUD as an FHA Fee
Inspector in 1991 and began his career in executing 203(k) Work Write Ups/Reports.
John's construction company: Spartan Construction & Design, Inc., was created in order to give John his own
start in construction of new homes and learning all of the fundamentals of an entrepreneurial homebuilding. On
the average each year, John completes over forty FHA 203(k) Work Write-ups. After several successful years
of continuous performance of his construction business and 203(k)'s, John decided to create a second company
called: Spartan Contracting Services.
Spartan Contracting Services was created solely, for the purpose of executing FHA 203(k) Work Write Ups.
To this day, Spartan Contracting Services has submitted over 500 203(k) inspection reports. John also has
enjoyed conducting seminars on the 203(k) Program and educates lenders, RE Brokers and future clients in this
field of lending.
John has also served on various committees plus has been active in the local community too. John has served
on the board as a member of the Home Builders Association of Greater Chicago, Young Builders Council and
Illinois Mortgage Bankers Association. Currently, John is a member of the Downers Grove Chamber of
Commerce and local Moose Lodge plus he has donated much of his time in the construction and remodeling of
homes for Habitat for Humanity. John has volunteered his construction experience for the LaGrange Troop 14
Boyscouts of America, local churches, St. Mary's School, National Non for Profit organization - Homes for Our
Troops and even selected by a contractor to be a part of the rebuilding of a home in Illinois in 2009, for the
ABC Emmy Award winning show "Extreme Makeover Home Edition".
Spartan Construction Design, Inc., which continues to grow each day, is now specializing in:
